New "Dollhouse" trailer

A new trailer for Joss Whedon's "Dollhouse" has arrived:

I don't know...it doesn't really grab me. Then again, I'm not a big Eliza Dushku fan. And I have to remind myself that "Firefly" didn't look that great to me before I saw an actual full episode either, so I'm still very optimistic. What do you think?

I am a huge sci-fi fan, and this show looks incredible. I am concerned because I have heard about a bunch of on set re-shoots and script re-writes. Wheaton is an incredible storyteller, and he isn't given enough credit for what he has done.

Firefly, one of the best space westerns ever.

I hate to be pessimistic, but I am not enthused by the trailer. I rarely am (except with Firefly).

As with all of Whedon's stories, this will take time to develop and neither audience OR Fox themselves will have the patience to see it out. Also, Tim Minear is cursed so I predict this will all end in tears.

(See precedents: Firefly, Wonderfalls, The Inside, Drive, etc etc etc)

P.S. Didn't Joss and Tim both vow never to work with Fox again? This is a ridiculously cyclical and hostile relationship that they both need to get out of FAST.

I was sad to hear of the rewrites and stuff... the project is already off to a rocky start. The first trailer really grabbed my attention more... but I have no idea how much has changed since it was put out.

Amanda: I'm not all that confident it will last, but I think Firefly and Dr. Horrible garnered a bunch viciously protective fans who will give any Whedon project a hell of a try. So maybe as a result, it'll have a little more of a chance. But who really knows...

The only light I see in the possibility of this project failing, is that it would bring Ripper a little closer to becoming a reality. I... I'm a bad fan.

Hrm, will be interested to see the pilot anyway. All of the bits and bobs I've read round the 'net seem to show it as a drama, and that trailer makes it out to be something altogether different - where's the whedon wit?

Fingers crossed, but I do wonder why Joss keeps going back to Fox (is it contractual??) - they seem to have a toxic relationship.

Yeah, I don't understand the relationship with FOX either. FOX has just never been supportive of anything Mutant Enemy has done. But maybe it is contractual...?

And now I've heard they put it on the schedule for Fridays. The neglect begins early.

I just heard this morning that it's been moved from Monday to Friday nights. Not a good sign. More like a death sentence. *sigh*

I refuse to give up hope. I'm not the biggest Dushku fan (Faith was my least favorite character) just because she seems so rough around the edges and I've had a hard time identifying with her in any role she's played. But that's why Joss wanted to do something with her to "showcase" her talents. Apparently she can do more than kicking and punching and being the snarky girl. He said he wants to show her vulnerable side and more of her acting chops. I'm willing to give her a chance based on his faith in her. No pun intended.

I'm trying not to get my hopes up but...who am I kidding? My hopes are way up! I think the promo looks great and I'm really looking forward to the premiere, despite the negative buzz. *fingers crossed*

I'm looking forward to it. I'm sure FOX will screw it up - you know like running the episodes out of order like they did for Firefly - or some such thing, but I really love pretty much anything that Joss does so gotta support him! :)

When I first heard about it I was concerned with the concept being so high that it would be quite limiting and I couldn't imagine how there would be room to tell stories. The trailer looks ok. I should just trust Joss, but yeah..FOX? What's up with that? I hope he has negotiated something that includes showing the frakking episodes in *order*.
