Tuesday Odds & Ends: Moonshot, Dollhouse and stylish monkeys

+ Jonesing for a dose of James Marsters aka Spike from "Buffy?" Of course you are, so don't miss the History Channel's two-hour presentation, "Moonshot" which features Marsters as one of the astronauts. I will admit that while watching the clip, I got kinda choked up when Walter Cronkite took his glasses off and smiled. Oh, that man!

+ Want to see a clip from the unaired "Dollhouse" episode called "Epitaph" and guest starring Felicia Day? Sure you do.

+ My Imaginary Boyfriend (TM) David Tennant has joined the cast of an upcoming comedy flick called "St. Trinian's II: The Legend of Fritton's Gold." It also stars Rupert Everett and Colin Firth, guaranteeing that I will have to watch it with a small bib.

+ Jeffrey Eugenides' novel "Middlesex" is being adapted into a one-hour drama series by HBO. It'll be written by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Donald Margulies and produced by Rita Wilson. Thanks to Megan for pointing that one out!

+ And finally, the greatest possible news of all: scientists have discovered a new kind of monkey! The little bugger, known as the Mura's saddleback tamarin monkey, was hiding in the Brazilian rain forest and was first spotted in 2007. He's cute AND stylish -- love the animal print he's workin' in the drawing below:

+ Speaking of curious things, did anyone else watch "Warehouse 13" last night? What did you think? I liked it -- nice, frothy summer entertainment.

I saw Warehouse 13 last night...it will definitely go on my Tuesday night schedule from now on. Hopefully this will appeal to enough people to keep it from being cancelled...I give it a thumbs up since it was something that my husband will watch which wasn't on the discovery or history channel, which is a big deal, trust me.

I watched the first half, but wasn't into it enough to watch another hour.

If David is doing that movie, does that mean he's not doing a Doctor Who movie?

But more importantly, will David Tennant be playing a pirate?
And will Colin Firth take his shirt off?

I remember getting SOOO frustrated with Middlesex because it was about everything _but_ the main character(sprawling was a good descriptor, AVClub). I hope they develop more of _her/his_ experiences regarding the hermaphroditism for the show.

Gonna watch Warehouse 13 on Hulu tonight. Can't wait!

I watched Warehouse 13 as well. It was enjoyable but I liked Virtuality a whole lot more and am despondent that I may never see another episode.

I thought David Tennant was *MY* imaginary boyfriend but if you are using him I will take Nathan Fillion.

Dollhouse - Does that guy say I will shoot you "very hard"? Really?

Mintychip, those are all very important questions. I'm hoping the answers are no, yes and yes, all with exclamation points.

Crone, the beauty of imaginary boyfriends is that we can all share. There's more than enough fictional Tennant and Fillion to go around!

Sareberry, that means he's very, very serious. ;)

Wish you would have said spoilers before saying the thing about the Dollhouse clip........

Oh, Cassandra, I'm so sorry! I didn't realize that was spoiler material. I fell off the Dollhouse wagon a ways back and had no idea. I'm taking it out now before I spoil anyone else. Sorry again!

David is playing a bad guy with 2 sidekicks and Rupert dresses in drag so it should be hilarious. Shooting on this already started and will be halfway finished before SDCC which is the time Wired guessed RTD and DT might make a DW movie announcement. Given the advance planning needed for a DW movie (probably overseas location filming for alien places and lots of CGI) it probably would be announced way in advance of filming so David would be finished with Trinian's.

Middlesex is perfect as a novel. I can't imagine any TV series, not matter how great, living up to it.

I felt similarly about the film adaptation of Atonement. The novel very much inhabited Briony's head and, though the film was visually beautiful, it completely failed to capture her inner world.

I'll probably watch the series, should it get picked up, but I can't imagine it holding a torch to the book.

Has anybody else noticed a similarity between James Marsters and Perfect Tommy?

I enjoyed Warehouse 13 more and more as the pilot went on. First off, I love Jane Espensen, so I'll watch the series just because it's hers. But what I really loved was all the steampunk gadgets.
