And the nominees are...totally up to you.

It's a random Friday in the middle of the month and you know what that means: nerdy man time. Let me know who you'd like to see nominated as Mr. May. You know the drill: he's got to have strong nerd credibility, loads of charm...and, well, beyond that, pretty much anything goes. So add your nominees in the comments and we'll start voting on Monday.

For a list of past winners, check out our Pantheon of Nerdy Men in the sidebar below.

I'm going to throw it out there, but Ronald Moore is one sexy fellow. From his long, flowing locks to his lovely, bushy whiskers, and his creative mind that has worked on the nerdy likes of Star Trek, Roswell, and the obsessively awesome Battlestar Galactica, he embodies all the qualities this nerd girl yearns for in a nerd man.

Hmmm... Ben Edlund (writer of the Tick and various shows including Whedon shows and Supernatural) or Brian Vaughan (comic writer)?

John Oliver! I have been voting for him the last few months, only to be disappointed. Funny! Accent! Sexy british nose!

What about Rob Pardo, Jeff Kaplan or Tim Chilton- the guys behind World of Warcraft?

I also think Jeremy Davies is quite the cutie and is playing a great nerd right now on Lost.

Not to go with a pop option, but I'm going to have to nominate Robert Downey, Jr. He's starred as Charlie Chaplin, Lord Rivers (in Richard III), and we don't even need to mention his nifty turn as Tony Stark. You haven't done enough comic book heroes! Also, RDJ has written music, sung with Sting, released his own album (way better than Paris Hilton's--though I can't swear to that as I would NEVER listen to a Paris Hilton album), and does kung fu. Shakespeare + Comic books + Martial arts = nerdy man extraordinare.

I'm still in favour of Patrick Stewart. The man's got staying power, I say. That's got to count for something!

After all that talking about him and his smart comedy, I'd have to nominate Eddie Izzard.

Can we nominate David Tennant again? I love him that much!c

Robert Downey, Jr, for bringing the nerdcore back with Iron Man this month.

Mmmm....yummy.

what is going on? did someone have one too many DQ blizzards? has the brain freeze finally passed? farming this kind of thing out to the readers screams pandering!!!

okay, i accept...my nominee is: ira glass

Fine nominees, each and every one. Although, sorry Beth, much as I've come to love David Tennant, being nerd man of the month is like being president. There are term limits. He is quite adorable though...

And don't worry Dr. Gambit, Nancy Pelosi and the other superdelegates will probably end up deciding the whole thing. :)

I'm just going to keep nominating Richard Ayoade until it sticks!

I think Blogger ate my last responce, if not, sorry for the double post.

I nominate:
John Krasinski (Jim from the Office)
Ben Edlund

Eddie Izzard

Huzzah!

If we'll settle for just playing one on the telly, I'm nominating David Krumholtz. Charlie Epps and Mr. Universe.

Or how 'bout Steven Fry? Geek cred to da max, and still funny without trying after all these years.

Or Neil Gaiman.

I second Ira Glass

oooo.... I second the Eddie Izzard vote!! He is quite dishy!

Either

Dylan Moran-of Black Books fame

Robert Downey Jr-of Iron Man fame.

Definitely seconding Stephen Fry. Love him.

Oh! Oh! Jamie Hyneman! And Adam too, I guess...

Black Eyed Gurl, the hotness that is Mr. Krasinski has already been a Nerd Man of the Month (that's how I found this blog!)

I would have to agree with the nomination for Eddie Izzard.

Okay, if David Tennant is term limited, I second David Krumholtz (being married to a David, I guess I'm partial to their charms). Numbers may not be a great show, but he's a good, and definitely nerd-love, character. Add to that Mr. Universe and his great sidekick in one of my favorite guilty pleasures (10 Things I Hate About You), and he's a worthy candidate!

ira glass or jad abumrad, both npr hunks.

I'm going to have to third the recommendation for Eddie Izzard. I would also suggest Craig Ferguson, since you've already honored Conan, Colbert and Jon Stewart. Craiggers got a perfect score on his American citizenship test! That is nerdy, for sure.

I know he's already been nominated once, and I'm not even holding out much hope that he'd win. Despite all that, I would totally give Adam Savage from Mythbusters my vote all over again. There's something about his limitless, boyish enthusiasm for science that gets me every time. And his nerd cred is pretty obvious, having one of the nerdiest jobs on tv. I also wouldn't be opposed to a combined Jamie Hyneman/Adam Savage ticket. Maybe together they could pull out a win.

I must say that I'd support Patrick Stewart and Eddie Izzard, too.

Terrence Howard, currently starring as Rhodey in Iron Man. Failing that, I second the Robert Downey Jr noms above!

another one for Ira Glass!

I'll second (and, in some cases, third) Richard Ayoade, David Krumholtz, and the absolute love of my life, Stephen Fry (FTW!).

Oh, that girl again... said...

I agree with Sonya's nomination of Dylan Moran.

I'd also go along with Eddie Izzard or Neil Gaiman as well.

To throw in a dark horse into the ring - Evan Dorkin of Milk & Cheese fame.

I'll second Coaster's vote for Adam Savage. although, I voted for him last time.. and it kinda feels like cheating :-)

um, what about Ricky Gervais?

Do they have to be alive? Towel day is this month!

Would Mike Rowe count as a nerd man, or is he too general-public sexy?

I'm going to keep nominating Ed Helms, I'm sorry...but I'll definitely vote for Adam Savage, too!

Seems like Robert Downey Jr has a head start judging by nomination numbers. Nevertheless, Bre Pettis has a considerable amount of nerd cred and charm. Just check out his tutorials on DIY zombie make-up or making a secret compartment book.
Plus he's a founding member of a hacker collective in NYC and works for etsy.

He has a little bit of a Doctor #10 vibe going on too, am I right?

I'm going to have to go with Patrick Stewart as well. Even if he is old enough to be my father, he's got it!

Anonymous said...

Ira Glass! Ira Glass!

I'd also second Ed Helms.

Sara said...

This might be more "wonk" than "nerd", but I nominate Chuck Todd (political analyst on MSNBC).

Joshua Ferris, author of Then We Came to the End

Zachary Levi from Chuck. Love that geek!
